Our position is simple: We believe business to be the ultimate team sport. We understand there are many great small to medium size operations out there that need only a few key players and a tweak to the game-plan in order to reach 'dynasty' status.
We partner with companies that offer an impressive product or service but we all believe would benefit greatly with some adjustments to the underlying business systems. Improvement should never cease in business and sometimes all it takes is a push from your team.
Black & Blue’s expertise spans the entirety of key business functions. Through our personal business roles as partners and executives, as well as from our experience working with and for some of the largest companies in the world, we have accumulated over 40 years of experience in finance and financial consulting, accounting, operations, sales, and marketing.
What is most important to us is that our partners all understand that the interest for Black & Blue is not in any type of quick takeover or 'flip'. Our steadfast objective is to contribute our knowledge, experience and capital into sound existing businesses to help push them to the next level.
Paul and Doug met over 25 years ago as freshman on their high school football team.
Over the next several decades they grew as teammates, friends, and now business partners.
Why consider us for your team? Because the collective network of businesses, professionals, and investors we've
assembled over the years is an asset with little other purpose than to help your business flourish.
Paul earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics with a concentration in Finance from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. Paul was also a varsity athlete at Penn, having earned 3 letters and 2 Ivy League Championship rings on the varsity football team. Paul began his career in institutional finance with UBS in 2000 in the New York City area, where we focused on the corporate credit markets. His career has taken him to Singapore, London and Hong Kong where he worked on business building and transformation at institutions such as Goldman Sachs, BTG Pactual and Standard Chartered.
Alongside his role as co-founding partner at Black & Blue Holdings and focus on its portfolio company partnerships, Paul is a partner at Barrister. Barrister is a full service registered investment advisor and financial planning firm based in the Philadelphia area and serving clients nationally. Paul is a Certified Financial PlanningTM (CFP®) practitioner.
Doug graduated from The College of New Jersey with a degree in Secondary Education in Literature with a minor degree in Spanish, which he earned while living and studying abroad in the Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico. Doug also earned 3 letters as an athlete on the Varsity Football team. After graduation he began his career teaching at an inner-city alternative high school in Atlantic City, NJ while continuing his service as a Lieutenant on the ocean rescue beach patrol in neighboring Longport.
Before long, Doug’s entrepreneurial spirit compelled him to leave teaching and begin anew in the private sector. After a brief experience working with an insurance claims adjusting firm, Doug began work at Consolidated Products Company, a supplier of custom print-related commodities to our nation’s manufacturing base. 15 years later, Doug is the CEO and majority shareholder of CPC, and now co-founding partner of Black & Blue Holdings, LLC.
